When you say the word "wedding" - costs tend to add up really fast. Especially when planning a destination wedding when you have an extra line item on the budget: Travel.
Here are a few tips on small ways to help cut the high costs of a destination wedding;
1. Natural Decor - The tropical or ocean background is probably one of the major reasons you choose to have a destination wedding. It's beautiful! So why spend thousands of dollars on extra decor just to distract your eyes from the background. Use native leaves and flowers around the grounds to add to centerpieces. Keep it simple and let being in nature be your main decor.
2. Limit the Guest List - It's tough to have to limit your invite list on the first round of invitations. I get that. But with most venues / caterers charging per person, this is the best way to reduce your costs. Most destination weddings fall on the more intimate side, so people understand that this is apart of that decision.
3. Opt for Mini Deserts Over Cake - a large fondant cake to feed your whole guest list can get really pricey. It could be hundreds if not thousands of dollars for a tiered cake. Choose instead mini pies or cupcakes. Your guests will love the variety and wont feel guilty leaving a huge slice of cake sitting at the table.
4, Location, Location, Location - there are so many beautiful sites to host a destination wedding. Some more popular than others. If you have a destination in mind that is super popular, that usually means it will also be high in demand with high prices. Instead try looking just outside the boarders of that location to find more options with better value. For example, if Key West is your destination, try looking at other Florida Keys - like Marathon.
